Some couples will require additional instruction and follow-up, especially if breast-feeding or coming off birth control pills or other chemical/hormonal methods of birth control. Sessions I and II consist of a slide presentation, with follow up/chart review and usually last about 2 hours. Session III is a 30 minute (or more) appointment with chart review. Additional follow-up will be scheduled as needed until each couple is confident in their use of the Method.

It is best for engaged couples to attend the classes at least six months before their wedding.

The fee is $75.00 per couple (even if only one attends) and is non-refundable. (This includes all the classes and materials plus individual follow up for as long as needed.)

Father/Son Program

The Father/Son Program for boys 12-15 years old explores God's special gifts of human sexuality and fertility as well as the goodness and wonder of His plan for growing up and becoming a man of integrity.

Topics include:

  • the physical changes in a young man's body as it prepares for fatherhood;
  • emotional changes;
  • acceptance of responsibility;
  • the functions of the male and female reproductive systems;
  • the sacredness of human life;
  • appreciation and reverence for the gift of sexuality;
  • the virtue of chastity;
  • and a question and answer segment.

Healthy dating relationships with a strong emphasis on friendship, respect and chastity are also discussed.

The purpose of the program is to provide an atmosphere of love and learning to discuss the important topic of growing up and to establish a foundation for continued communication between parent and child.

The program is presented primarily by male NFP Center volunteers who have set high moral standards for themselves. They will emphasize respect, strong character, integrity, understanding and appreciation for God's gifts.

Mother/Daughter Program

The Mother/Daughter Programs explore God's special gift of human fertility and the beauty and wonder of God's plan for growing up and becoming a woman. There are two separate programs to address the different age levels. The younger girls' program is for 10-12 year old girls and the older girls' program is for 13-16 year old girls.

Topics include:

  • the changes in a young woman's body as it prepares for motherhood;
  • the onset of ovulation and subsequent menstrual periods;
  • the functions of the female reproductive system;
  • the sacredness of human life;
  • the virtue of chastity;
  • and a question and answer segment.

Healthy dating ideas with a strong emphasis on chastity and reverence for our sexuality are also discussed with the older girls. It is good to come to both programs at the age appropriate time for each girl since the older girls' program is an extension of the first one.

The purpose of the programs is to provide an atmosphere of love and learning to discuss the important topic of growing up and to establish a foundation for continued communication between parent and child. The programs are presented by Natural Family Planning Teachers who will emphasize respect, understanding and appreciation for God's gifts.

Fertility Appreciation

Human fertility is presented as a powerful and precious gift from God. Young people learn to respect and appreciate their emerging fertility as a special part of themselves that deserves to be cherished and protected. By presenting fertility as a healthy and normal function of the human reproductive systems, it is easily understood and accepted instead of feared as a problem. Young people recognize their capability of cooperating with God in the creation of a new human life and learn that this great privilege is to be used only in marriage.

Chastity Education

We provide speakers to schools, churches and other groups to promote the virtue of chastity and abstinence from sexual activity outside of marriage. We strive to help young people realize that they are capable of sexual purity and self-control and that chastity can protect them from many problems and abuses of their sexuality. By understanding and practicing the virtue of chastity, young people are free to discover the true meaning of love and develop real friendships based on mutual respect and honest communication.

The Sanctity of Human Life

Speakers and audiovisual programs to inform people about the sacredness of human life and the realities of abortion. The contraceptive and abortion mentality so prevalent in our world today leads to the destruction of the human family. We hold that every human life is precious and worthy of protection from the moment of conception to natural death as a special and unique creation of God. We also serve as a resource center offering various information on the life issues.

While most of the services of the NFP Center are offered free of charge to any group, NFP classes and the Mother/Daughter Programs and Father/Son Program require that we charge a minimum amount. Donations to the NFP Center are always gratefully accepted.
