St. Louis Catholic School, in Memphis, TN is accepting applications for the 5^th/6^th grade science teacher position for School year 2023-24.

A successful candidate should have the following qualifications:

• Teaching Certification in the State of TN, or an undergraduate degree in a field of science and willing to work towards certification
• Experience teaching 5^th and 6^th grade science
• Knowledge and the ability to implement STEM learning, especially the Engineering component of STEM across the curriculum
• Experience with project based learning, team planning, and hands on lab procedures
• Strong communication skills both oral and written

The essential duties of this position:

• Follow and maintain knowledge of all Diocesan policies
• Be a practicing member of the Catholic Church or have knowledge of ways to integrate Catholic Doctrine into the science concepts
• Develop and maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to effective learning, utilizing effective classroom management strategies
• Experience with project based learning, team planning, and hands on lab procedures
• Ability to utilize a variety of teaching methods and strategies as well as assessments that are more performance based along with traditional pen and paper assessment strategies
• Communicate with parents about their child’s academic performance throughout the school year
• Maintain and update online Portals that include grades, homework, testing, and any other important information
• Lead grade level STEM initiative
