The Office Communications of the Diocese of Memphis serves the Church’s mission of the new evangelization.

This office serves this mission by telling the story of “Catholic Memphis” — the story of how faith in Jesus Christ is proclaimed and lived in the Catholic community of West TN.

In telling this story, we are guided by Bishop Talley’s vision and the vision of the Diocese of Memphis by:

    • Educating and forming Catholics for deeper knowledge and more intense and prayerful living of their Catholic faith.
    • Inspiring Catholics to hear God’s calling to the priesthood and to religious and consecrated life.
    • Promoting the cultural diversity and universal identity of the Catholic Church.
    • Proclaiming the Gospel of Life and building a Culture of Life.
    • Promoting marriage and the family as sacred institutions and the heart of a civilization of love.

To fulfill this commitment, all employees, parishes, schools, and organizations affiliated with the Diocese of Memphis are required to comply with the following media communication policy:

  • All media inquiries should be directed to:

    • The Bishop’s grounds, including the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, churches and schools, are private property. Please contact the Office of Communications to help facilitate your visit.
    • The Diocese welcomes media coverage of our special Masses and press events. Reporters are advised to contact the Office of Communications to help facilitate photography or camera set-up in designated areas without interrupting the Mass. Interviews should be conducted outside of the Cathedral or churches so as not to disturb those who are worshipping.
    • Reporters must seek the consent of an informed parent or adult guardian before interviewing, videotaping or photographing a child.
    • The Office of Communications welcomes Internet links on Diocesan news posts and features from both print and digital media to share with readers, viewers and listeners via the Diocese’s social media sites.
    • The Office of Communications welcomes news story ideas, photos, video and events from schools, parishes, organizations, ministries and individuals affiliated with the Diocese for possible publication or use on our social media sites.

These policies have been put in place to protect the Diocese of Memphis and the people it is charged with serving.
