View the following video from Bishop Talley on our Diocese’s first-ever Eucharistic Congress: BishopTalleyEucharisticCongress. All our invited to the special event, which is in support of our 50th Anniversary year! Please mark your calendar now to join Bishop Talley and many clergy and community members on Friday, Oct. 8, 6pm-9pm, and Saturday, Oct. 9, 9am-6pm, at the new Renasant Convention Center, Downtown Memphis.

A Eucharistic Congress is a beautiful gathering of thousands of clergy, religious, laity, communities, youth and many others in celebrating and showing devotion to our Lord’s real presence in the Eucharist. The two days of celebration and devotion are shown through Masses, speakers, discussions, confessions, adoration, music, youth and family activities and much more. It is a time of joy, fellowship, prayer and unity. A spiritual renewal with the Theme: That All May Be One (John 17:21)!

The first Eucharistic Congress was held in Lille, France, in 1881. Since that time there have been about 40 Global Eucharistic Congresses with two of those in the U.S. (Chicago-1926 / Philadelphia-1976). Pope St. John Paul II attended the Eucharistic Congress in Philadelphia. Also, over the years, there have been numerous local Eucharistic Congresses in Dioceses throughout the world. Again, this is our first Eucharistic Congress in West Tennessee.
