Many blessings to our Diocese’s 20 Permanent Diaconate Candidates, Class of 2025, who are at St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology in St. Meinrad, Ind., this week for a Canonical Retreat.
The Deacon Candidates are at St. Meinrad to prepare for their Deacon Ordination next month on Saturday, September 20, 10:00am, at our magnificent and historic Mother Church, The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1695 Central Ave., Memphis.
Bishop David P. Talley and Deacon leaders are at St. Meinrad, too. Let’s join them in prayer for our Deacon Candidates and their Retreat Master, Fr. Jim Schimelpfening, SM. He is a Marianist Priest with a background in spiritual formation and ministry.
The vocation to become a Permanent Deacon is a Five-Year Master Degree level study, which began in the Spring of 2020 for these Candidates. Also, each Candidate’s spouse, if they are married, are right by their side in support of them.
