Cathedral School Names New Principal
Chad Stevens, who has served as Immaculate Conception Cathedral School interim principal since June 2020, has been appointed principal, Cathedral pastor Fr. Robert Szczechura announced on Tuesday.
In his letter to faculty, parents, and parishioners, Fr. Szczechura noted Mr. Stevens’ leadership during the pandemic and his strong relationship with parents and faculty.
“Over the past several months, during very fluidly unprecedented circumstances, he has stepped up and led with little, to no, interruption. He deals with issues head on and takes ownership of his position, and is well-respected by faculty, students and parents.”
Mr. Stevens joined ICCS in 2018, serving as High School Principal and Assistant Principal of the Lower and Middle School. He was named interim principal in June 2020 after longtime principal Karen Gephart’s retirement.
A lifelong Catholic, Mr. Stevens and his wife, Leslie, have three sons and two granddaughters. He attended St. Ann-Bartlett Elementary School and is a graduate of Christian Brothers High School. He earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree at then-Memphis State University.
“I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity and very excited to be leading ICCS into the future,” Mr. Stevens said of his principal appointment.
