This past week, Bishop David P. Talley accepted the resignation of Father Robert Szczechura from his pastoral duties as Pastor of The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and our Director of Divine Worship and Director of Vocations for personal reasons.

In a letter to Cathedral parishioners, Father Szczechura said, “I have come to realize that it is time for me to step back from my pastoral duties…I am forever grateful for the support, guidance, and fellowship you have shown me through the years… Please keep me in your prayers and I will continue to keep you in mine.”

Effective immediately, Bishop Talley, through the recommendation of our Clergy Personnel Board, has appointed Father Mike Werkhoven as Pastor of The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Father Werkhoven will continue as Pastor of the Catholic Church of the Incarnation in Collierville until November 30, 2024. Father Andrew Raffanti will continue as Parochial Vicar at The Cathedral.

On December 1, 2024, the Bishop will appoint Father Joey Kaump, Pastor of St. Brigid Catholic Church, as Pastor of Incarnation, and Parochial Administrator of Saint Brigid. Father Joey will also continue as Dean of the Central Deanery. Father Scott Barhke will continue as Parochial Vicar at Incarnation, and Father Cain Galicia will continue as Parochial Vicar at St. Brigid.
