Deacon Ernie Alboniti – St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Volunteer Spotlight

Outstanding! Many blessings and congratulations to Deacon Ernie Albonetti for recently being recognized by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in a Volunteer Spotlight communications.

Eucharistic Ministry

For more than 22 years, Deacon Ernie Albonetti has generously served St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as a Eucharistic Ministry volunteer. During his visits, Deacon Ernie spends time with inpatients and families to assist Spiritual Care Services in providing the Eucharist to Catholic patients and families, providing Sacraments in accordance with our Diocese, offering a meaningful service during their hospital stay.

Being Present

For Deacon Ernie, volunteering is about being present for people when they may need encouragement most. He has experienced countless moments when parents have expressed deep appreciation for his visits, knowing that the time he gives is completely voluntary. He describes the opportunity to provide spiritual assistance as a priceless experience that has helped him grow personally, while allowing him to feel appreciated.

Parish Community

Outside of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Deacon Ernie continues his commitment to serving others through his parish community, our beautiful and historic St. Mary Catholic Church-Downtown Memphis. Now retired, he volunteers his time helping to feed those in need at St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen, counseling individuals experiencing challenges in their marriages, and presiding at prayer services. He especially values being surrounded by people at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital who approach their work not simply as a job, but as a vocation.
