Discipleship Camp held at U of M Catholic Student Center
Twelve youth from parishes across the Diocese of Memphis gathered at the Catholic Student Center at the University of Memphis for the Diocese’s first ever Discipleship Camp on August 16-18, 2019. The youth were presented with the Gospel message through a series of talks about Dignity, Sin and Its Consequences, Who is Jesus, and Virtuous Friendship. These high school Juniors and Seniors, selected by their youth ministers, also had time to reflect on their own lives and relationship with God. Interspersed with games and apologetics training, they were trained about how to give their own testimonies. The teens then shared those testimonies with each other and the adult leaders from the retreat. This retreat served as a pilot program which the Office of Youth Ministry hopes to expand in the coming months. Teens who attended:
Sarah Gammill and Caroline Stiefvater, St. Francis of Assisi; Ben Hernandez and Adam Willett, Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit; Laura Harmeier, Ian McGlaughlin, Joshua Pettit, and Hanna Rohde, St. Ann in Bartlett; Cole Sowder, Catholic Church of the Incarnation; Ashlee Rich and Karely Rodriguez, Resurrection Catholic Church.
