At today’s Winter Signing Day, seven St. Benedict at Auburndale (SBA) High School seniors committed to continuing their athletic careers at the college level. Presiding over the event was SBA Athletic Director Caleb Marcum, who introduced each athlete and their coach. 

The ceremony, held in the school’s gym, recognized the following: 

Lunden Clark – signing as Defensive Tackle with Southeastern Missouri State University Redhawks Football Team (Div I – Ohio Valley Conf)

Rebecca King – signing with the CBU Lady Bucs Volleyball Team (Div II – Gulf South Conf)

Jesse Komoroski – signing with the Mt. Union University Purple Raiders Football Team (Div. III – Ohio Athletic Conf)

Zach Lucchesi – signing with the Aurora University Spartans Basketball Team (Div. III – Northern Athletics Conf)

Spencer Turner – signing with the Aurora University Spartans Basketball Team (Div. III – Northern Athletics Conf)

Lunden began playing football in the 7th grade and came to SBA as a freshman.
4-year starter for SBA Football
3-year starter as a two-way player, playing offensive and defensive tackle
Has played in 44 games for the Eagles
He is a Team Captain
Selected and integral in this year’s AutoZone Liberty Bowl High School All-Star Game, recording 2 sacks and several tackles.
Invited to play Offense-Defense All-American Bowl

Has been named all-region 2nd-team for three years straight
Named as an all-state athlete this year

Lunden is signing to play defensive tackle for Southeast Missouri State University and plans to
study business management.

Rebecca King, started at Saint Benedict started as a freshman coming from Woodland Presbyterian school in Memphis. It was at Woodland where Rebecca started playing volleyball. She was captain of her volleyball team and won the Outstanding Performance award 2 years in a row.
Since coming to SBA, Rebecca has been actively involved not only in volleyball but the Make-Wish and St. Jude clubs as well as volunteering for several service organizations outside of SBA. Rebecca has been a member of the SBA volleyball team for 4 years and a member of the varsity team for 2 years. She was co-captain of the varsity team this year. She received the SBA Varsity Offense Award in 2018 for outstanding contribution.
Rebecca is continuing her volleyball career and, more importantly, her education at Christian Brothers University. She plans to study Biology with hopes of continuing her education in the medical field.

Jesse is signing in football with the Mt Union University Purple Raiders (D-III) of the OAConference. Mt. Union is arguably the most dominant college football program with a long history of winning. They have won 13 Division 3 National Championships since 1993, a record in any division with a playoff format.

2-year Varsity starting Quarterback with a total of 3,260 career passing yards and 29 TDs.

Jesse received 2018 All-Combine Team honors for outstanding performance and evaluation in a field of superb prospects at the Southern Elite Top 150 Combine.

Zach has been a student at SBA for 2 years and has been a contributor on the basketball court.
He averages 7 ppg and 34% shooting from the 3-point line. He has also been a member of Hoop City AAU Basketball throughout high school. Zach was invited to the Adidas Prospect Camp as a junior and senior after playing in the Adidas Summer Gauntlet.

Zach is signing with Division III Aurora University (Chicago area) Spartans of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

Chose to go to Aurora because I had a strong relationship with the coach and felt very comfortable my first time on campus.
Aurora is 7x NACC Champions (12 seasons)
Has had 25 consecutive winning seasons

I chose Aurora because it reminds me of St. Benedict with high academic standards and I want to continue my love and passion for the game of basketball. Coach Lance has chosen me to come to Aurora and play for the Spartans and continue my dream at the collegiate level.

Played all four years at SBA and Varsity my sophomore, junior and senior year and served as one of the captains this year.
In his junior year, Spencer was awarded the highest athletic award given at SBA, The Eagle. The Eagle award represents that an athlete has gone above and beyond what is expected of him and is a team leader.
In 2016, High School tournament, All For one & One for All, in Jacksonville Florida, He won MVP for the whole tournament.
He has played AAU his entire basketball career.
