St. Benedict at Auburndale High School Principal Sondra Morris announces the addition of Will Hudgens as the school’s new Athletic Director, taking over the reins from 10-year veteran Caleb Marcum, who left for a job in the corporate environment. Assisting Hudgens is Head Baseball Coach Brandon Patton, who will also serve as Assistant AD.
In making the announcement, Morris said, “Will has been a great addition to our staff, when he came to us last spring from Houston High School. He served as football Offensive Coordinator this fall and has assumed a lot of rolls, including Head Track Coach this Spring. Not only does he have a superior work ethic, he is familiar with the Memphis High School sports scene and is well-respected among his peers. We look forward to a great working relationship and with the continuation of the system and vision set in place by Coach Marcum.”
Hudgens will step out of the coaching ranks to lead the school’s Athletic Department full-time. He recently welcomed new Head Football Coach Marlon Walls and is in the process of interviewing Girls Basketball head coaching prospects, since the job came open after Marcum left. He is also is looking for a Head Volleyball coach, as last year’s coach Sammie Ruttan is relocating to Florida.
Hudgens prepped at Ridgeway High School in Memphis and went on to play both football and baseball with the University of Memphis Tigers.
He compiled a 29-26 record with the Houston Mustangs as Head Football Coach prior to joining SBA. In five seasons he guided them to the playoffs each year.
