Director of Development
Catholic Diocese of Memphis 

The Catholic Diocese of Memphis is seeking a dynamic Director of Development to lead and grow our mission-driven fundraising efforts. As a key member of the diocesan leadership team, the Director will work closely with the Bishop and staff to foster a culture of stewardship and support across West Tennessee.

This servant leader will manage a comprehensive development strategy—including Major Gifts, Annual Giving, Planned Giving, and Foundation Relations—to meet current fundraising goals and build long-term sustainability. The Director will also collaborate with the Catholic Foundation of West Tennessee, oversee the Assistant Director of Development, and guide efforts such as the Annual Catholic Appeal, special collections, grant writing, and stewardship education.

Additional responsibilities include leading capital campaigns, coordinating with fundraising consultants, and supporting parishes, schools, and ministries with development strategies. The Director will also promote and manage planned giving opportunities to benefit the Diocese’s mission well into the future.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of successful development experience, ideally in Memphis/West Tennessee
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing
• Proven nonprofit fundraising experience across multiple channels
• Exceptional written, verbal, and public speaking skills
• Strong relationship-building and leadership abilities
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Willingness to travel and work evenings/weekends as needed (some remote work allowed)
