Memphis, TN…
St. Benedict at Auburndale (SBA) High School Principal Sondra Morris today announced that Justin Wharton has assumed responsibilities as the Director of Admissions beginning July 1. Wharton joins the school in the director capacity that was left open by the recent resignation of former Admissions Director Terri Heath, who has taken a job out of the field of education.
Wharton comes to SBA from Christian Brothers University, where he has most recently served as an Admissions Counselor/Athletic Liaison. Prior to CBU, he was a recruiting coordinator at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He also served as marketing and fundraiser coordinator and assistant coach for the University’s wrestling program.
Wharton received a master’s degree in education and undergraduate degree in health and physical education from Heidelberg University. His wife, Alexa, is Assistant Volleyball Coach for the University of Memphis Lady Tigers Volleyball Team. They are parishioners of Holy Rosary Church.
In announcing the appointment, Principal Morris said, “While we are sad to lose our excellent and adept Admissions Director, Terri Heath, we are pleased and fortunate to have Justin Wharton join the Admissions team at SBA. He has a great track record in bringing students to the schools for which he has worked. It was quickly evident that Justin has strong leadership qualities and an ability to build meaningful relationships through creative and innovative programs. We look for continued success in the very competitive Memphis private school admissions environment.”
Wharton says, “I enjoy helping students and their families gain reassurance in the next step in the all-important education process. I have a goal to continue to fill SBA with students who are self-motivated, disciplined, steeped in virtue and have a passion to pursue excellence in the classroom, the athletic arena, the arts environment and, most importantly, the community. The SBA Eagles ‘Nest’ is known throughout the community for excellence in all these areas and I am excited about the opportunity to contribute.”
Wharton also hopes to become involved with the school’s wrestling program.
