This Friday, January 13, before the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., National Holiday, Monday, Jan. 16, our Catholic Schools across West Tennessee will gather their students to celebrate Rev. Dr. King, Jr.’s incredible legacy with a Holy Mass. This National Holiday honors the achievements of an extraordinary person–a Baptist Minister and Civil Rights Leader who advocated for non-violent resistance against segregation. Let’s remember that Rev. Dr. King, Jr. stood for equal rights among all.
Also, all are invited to celebrate Holy Mass with Bishop David P. Talley on the National Holiday, Monday, Jan. 16, 10am, at Our Mother Church, The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, to recall the work of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Rev. Dr. King, Jr.’s faith and politics were integrated and always focused on how we can live a good life. We must never lose sight that the Church is called to do the same. Let’s embody his teachings as a tool to help us remember that we must always work for peace every day and help create equality for all.
