Diocese of Memphis Catholic High School Hall of Fame is Formed

Memphis, Tenn. – March 19, 2026 — Over the course of the last 18 months, Mike Clary (MCHS ’73), Board Chair of the Memphis Catholic Hall of Fame, and Chris Fay, President, Catholic Schools of Memphis, have been developing the idea of a unified Catholic High School Hall of Fame for the graduates of:

  • Saint Benedict at Auburndale High School
  • Bishop Byrne High School
  • Catholic High School for Boys
  • Father Bertrand High School
  • Immaculate Conception High School for Girls
  • Memphis Catholic High School
  • Sacred Heart High School for Girls
  • Saint Augustine High School
  • Saint Thomas High School

Beginning at the end of January 2027, during National Catholic Schools Week, the Catholic Schools of Memphis will announce its first class of Hall of Fame inductees into the Diocese of Memphis Catholic High School Hall of Fame.

“The transition to a unified Hall of Fame provides the opportunity for our current Hall of Fame members to be enshrined and honored perpetually, and to continue to select outstanding alumni to honor in the future,” said Clary.

Thanks to the leadership of Dr. John Hyden (SBA ’93) and the support of SBA Principal Ramon Villacura and the team at SBA, the vision of having a unified Hall of Fame honoring graduates from multiple generations will be a reality. It brings the past and present together as one Hall of Fame for the Diocese’s Catholic High Schools in Memphis.

Bishop David P. Talley remarked, “It is important to honor our past and those individuals who are leaders in our community. We are very grateful and prayerful for the work of Mike, Chris, John, and the team at SBA in making this Hall of Fame a reality.”

There will be much coordinating and planning that remains, but the experiences of the Catholic Schools of Memphis Leadership Team and the Memphis Catholic Hall of Fame Board of Directors will give life to a sustainable process that will honor graduates of the Diocese of Memphis Catholic High Schools in a significant manner.

Dr. Fay said, “We deeply appreciate the work George Bone (CHSFB ’65), Mike Clary, and many Memphis Catholic graduates have done for the graduates of our legacy schools. We are very excited about the future our new Diocese of Memphis Catholic High School Hall of Fame will have as a unified organization.”
