Betty Fincher Lombas, age 81, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on August 19, 2025.
Born on April 12, 1944, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Betty was the daughter of the late Roger Harold Fincher Sr. and Deleah Sheppard Fincher.
She began her teaching career at Young Memorial Technical College in Morgan City, Louisiana, where she developed her passion for teaching. She devoted her life to education, touching the lives of many students with her care and guidance. Even after retirement, Betty continued her passion for teaching by serving as a substitute teacher in the Dyersburg City Schools, where she enjoyed staying connected to students and the classroom.
Betty was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Carl George Lombas, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of love and devotion. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and enduring commitment.
Later in life, Betty found a deep connection to the Catholic faith, which became a source of strength and peace for her. She also cherished simple joys, including her weekly visits to the beauty shop every Thursday, where she enjoyed laughter and friendship.
She is survived by her loving husband, Carl George Lombas; her son, Samuel “Sammie” William Lombas; two granddaughters, Ann Ashley Marbrey (Hunter Marbrey) and Lauren Lombas; two great-grandsons, Carson and Brock Marbrey; her brother, Roger Harold Fincher Jr. and his wife Rosalie of Edmonds, Washington; and her nephew, Scott Fincher.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Samuel Sheppard and Laura Lillian Sheppard, paternal grandparents William Weber Fincher and Della Jane Fincher, and nephew, Steven Fincher.
Betty will be remembered for her faith, her unwavering dedication to her family, her passion for teaching, and the warmth she brought into the lives of those who knew her. Her memory will live on in each of us, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
