Pope Francis postpones Peter’s Pence collection
In a letter to bishops, Most Reverend Paul D. Etienne, Chairman, Committee on National Collections writes:
“I take this opportunity to share that information has been received from the Apostolic Nunciature on behalf of the Holy See with respect to this year’s Peter’s Pence collection. Please note a change in the date for the appeal from June 29 to October 4 in light of the ongoing COVID-19 health emergency and the expected continued closure of churches in the early summer. I trust you will share it with the appropriate staff in your dioceses.
National Collections staff will work with its distribution partners to adjust shipments of requested materials to parishes that were scheduled to take up the collection on the June date. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact staff at national _collections@usccb.org.
