Remembering the Dead at St. Michael Catholic Church: Traditions, customs combine to honor the past
St. Michael Catholic Church in Memphis created an alter for parishioners to place photos of their loved ones on Nov. 2, 2020. There was a mass for All Souls Day at the Church on Monday. The Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday celebrated in Mexico as a way of remembering the dead. It is celebrated as part of the Catholic celebrations of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, the two days that follow Halloween.
