In January 2025, our Catholic Diocese of Memphis “Strategic Pastoral Plan” began to be released to our more than 70,000 parishioners in West Tennessee. The official roll-out begins this Thursday, February 20.
Three-Year Roadmap
As Bishop David P. Talley said in a recent letter to all our Priests, Deacons, Principals, and Directors, this Strategic Pastoral Plan, “Living the anointed life,” is our Roadmap for the 46 parishes and 13 schools in our Diocese. The Plan will direct our efforts for the next three years, 2025-2027, as we seek to work together in following the Lord’s Will for our wonderful Diocese.
Vision, Mission and Priorities
Thousands of our parishioners came together over the past two years in prayer, listening sessions, and surveys to develop, through the Holy Spirit, a Vision, Mission, and six Strategic Priorities with action plans for our parishes and schools, at Catholic Charities, and in every lay ministry recognized as essential to our Catholic Faith.
Embrace the Three-Year Plan
Importantly, our Strategic Pastoral Plan does not suggest or require uniformity. Rather, Bishop Talley’s prayer is that the creative and insightful leadership of our Pastors, Principals, and Directors, and their faith-filled and talented teams, will help to embrace the three-year plan of action and “incarnate the plan” to make it their own within the realities and uniqueness of each parish and in each school.
Moving Forward Together as One
Our Diocese will move forward together as One, with collective energies and sanctity, to build up the Kingdom of God in West Tennessee.
