Congratulations and many prayers during our Diocesan Vocations Awareness Week to two wonderful Seminarians Andrew Elkins and Vinicius Botelho de Oliveira, from our Diocese, who were recently installed into the Ministry of Acolyte at Notre Dame Seminary, New Orleans.
The Ministry of Acolyte is the final Ministry before Seminarians are ordained to the Diaconate. In the Rite of Institution, the presiding Bishop hands those to be instituted a patent with bread and says, “Take this vessel with bread for the celebration of the Eucharist. Make your life worthy of your service at the table of the Lord and of His Church.”
Pictured with Andrew and Vinny are Bishop J. Gregory Kelly, Bishop of Tyler, and Father Joshua Rodrigue, Rector/President, who instituted Andrew, Vinny, and other ND Seminarians into the Ministry of Acolyte at Notre Dame.
