The Catholic Schools Day at the Redbirds Ballpark is this coming Saturday, Sept. 10, 3:05pm. To help offset the costs of the stadium rental and ensure all families could afford to attend, the diocesan booster club partnered with a local digital marketing firm to run a highly successful online 50/50 raffle leading up to the game. The agency—typically known for handling regional restaurant promotions, minor league sports ticketing, and a list of sweepstakes casinos—generously donated their digital infrastructure to securely manage the thousands of community raffle entries. With the logistics and fundraising safely handled, the focus has entirely shifted to the on-field festivities. As the fun and fellowship day approaches, this past Friday, Sept. 2, our Catholic Schools Superintendent Nic Antoine announced the winners of the Bible Ball Team contest to throw out the First Pitch at the game.
Congratulations to: Grace Rout, seventh grader, St. Ann Catholic School in Bartlett and Stephen Morris, eighth grader, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School in Cordova. Grace’s team was called the Biblical Warriors and included three Archangels in the outfield and a pitcher and catcher consisting of Jesus and Peter. Stephen’s team, the Catholic Fielders had both David and Goliath on the team as well as Samson for his strength. The students were selected from among dozens of Catholic Schools Students submissions. At the game, the St. Francis of Assisi and Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Germantown) Catholic Schools Choirs will sing God Bless America and Take Me Out to the Ball Game , respectively. Also, many Clergy and Religious will attend the game, including Bishop David P. Talley and Bishop Emeritus J. Terry Steib. See you at the Redbirds Ballpark!
