Many Faithful across our Diocese were in attendance last month, June 3, when five of our wonderful Seminarians were ordained to the Diaconate. Deacon Mateusz Wegrzyn, Deacon Horst Lorenz, Deacon Rolando Pérez, Deacon Andrew Raffanti and Deacon Kacper Wojcieszko were ordained as Transitional Deacons and are now serving in our Parishes this summer. As the summer ends, four of these Deacons will return to Seminary Formation (Deacon Mateusz has completed his Seminary Formation). Deacon Horst goes back to Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, for one last semester. He completes his Seminary Formation this December 2023. The other three Deacons will complete their Seminary Formation in the Spring 2024. With this in mind, Bishop David P. Talley has decided to have two Presbyteral Ordination in 2024. On Saturday, January 6, 2024, Bishop Talley will ordain Deacon Mateusz and Deacon Horst to the Priesthood. They will then be assigned to serve as a Priest in our Diocese. Then on Saturday, June 8, 2024, after completing their Seminary Formation, Bishop Talley will ordain Deacon Rolando, Deacon Andrew and Deacon Kacper. They will begin their Priestly service effective July 1, 2024. So, please mark your calendars today and commit to attending these two Ordinations in 2024 at our beautiful Mother Church, The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. And, let’s join Bishop Talley in thanking God for our outstanding Seminarians.
