As communicated earlier this month, October is feedback month for comments on our Strategic Pastoral Planning Executive Summary Report–which is going very well. The additional feedback will be helpful. Click the Diocese e-mail address to leave feedback on the Report: officeof.communications@cc.cdom.org. The deadline for submitting feedback is this Friday, Oct. 27.

Based off the Report, final feedback and other measures, Bishop David P. Talley will discuss a draft Vision Statement and steps forward with our Priests in a few weeks at our Diocese’s 2023 Priest Convocation. Then on Sunday, Dec. 3, and throughout the Advent season, our Priests will share our Diocese’s Vision Statement and next steps with our Strategic Pastoral Planning process across our 47 churches in West Tennessee. As the New Year begins, this means the start of Phase III (Jan. 2024-Dec. 2024) where our Strategic Pastoral Planning Committee will begin to develop detailed action plans designed to achieve our Vision Statement with the help of a few Task Teams across our Diocese’s Ministries. The process will involve Committee and Task Team meetings during the first six to eight months of 2024. After consulting with our Diocese’s Presbyteral and Finance Councils, and other Diocesan organizations, the Committee will then recommend a three-to-five-year Strategic Pastoral Plan to Bishop Talley for final approval and implementation in January 2025.

For transparency, below is a list of our Diocese’s Strategic Pastoral Planning Committee meetings scheduled with Bishop Talley throughout 2024.

• Monday, Feb. 5, 1:00pm-2:30pm, Bishop’s Conference Room at the Chancery

• Monday, May 6, 1:00pm-2:30pm, Bishop’s Conference Room at the Chancery

• Monday, Aug. 19, 1:00pm-2:30 pm, Bishop’s Conference Room at the Chancery

• Final Committee meeting in Nov. 2024 following the 2024 Priest Convocation

There also will be many additional meetings scheduled that involve Task Teams assigned to develop action plans and accountability in each of the Strategic Pastoral Planning’s priority areas.
