The Annual Chrism Mass takes place once every year during Holy Week. In our Memphis Diocese, it is next Tuesday of Holy Week, this year on April 12, 7:00pm, at our Mother Church, The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception—and all are invited to attend.

During the Chrism Mass, The Most Reverend David P. Talley, M.S.W., J.C.D., our Sixth Bishop of Memphis, recalling the Institution of the Ministerial Priesthood at the Last Supper commemorating Holy Thursday, invites all our Priests of the Memphis Diocese, whether Diocesan, Religious or External, to renew the Priestly promises they made at their Ordination.

After our Priests renew their promises, Bishop Talley will turn to us, the lay Faithful, and say: “Pray for your Priests, that the Lord may pour out his gifts abundantly upon them, and keep them faithful as ministers of Christ, the High Priest, so that they may lead you to him, who is the source of salvation.”

What better way to pray for our Priests than by joining them at this celebration of the Chrism Mass to show our support and share our prayers for those who serve us each and every day. It’s a beautiful celebration to see and hear.

Why not gather a group from your Parish or Mission to journey with your Priest(s) to the Chrism Mass and pray for them in person at the Mass. God Bless our Priests!
