Catholic Black History Month and Sr. Thea Bowman

As the month of November comes to a close with Catholic Black History Month, our Memphis Diocese continues to share information on Black Catholics and their important contributions to the Catholic spiritual, intellectual traditions and social doctrines.

According to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), there are more than three million African-American Catholics in the U.S. Over the years, Black Catholic Priests and Sisters have served our Memphis Diocese and many other Dioceses across the U.S. and the world so very faithfully and have made a difference in the lives of so many families like the late Sr. Thea Bowman–who is now being strongly considered for Canonization.

Please click the following link to read about Sr. Bowman in a recent Commercial Appeal front-page, above the fold article: CommercialAppealSr.Bowman.

God bless the late Sr. Bowman and our Black Catholic history.
