All are invited to participate in the 2024 Special Athletes Fun Day hosted by St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett next Saturday, September 21. This joy-filled day features a number of Track & Field events that are modeled after the Special Olympics and is designed for individuals with Special Needs from age Six through Adult. The event has been held annually since 1991.
This year’s event will take place on the St. Ann Catholic Church Athletic Field, 6529 Stage Road, Bartlett. Check-in and late registration will begin at 8:00am on the day of the event and the opening ceremonies will begin promptly at 9:00am. There will be coffee and donuts provided in the morning and lunch will be provided to all athletes, volunteers, and spectators at the conclusion of the event around 12:00pm (noon).
All those interested in competing as a Special Athlete are encouraged to submit a completed online registration form as soon as possible so that the planning committee can order enough t-shirts, award medallions, goody bags, food, etc. All athletes should be registered prior to the start of the opening ceremonies at 9:00am.
Volunteers are needed to assist the Special Athletes, help conduct the games, etc. Students can earn service hours for their school or organization for volunteering. No pre-registration needed for volunteers. Just arrive by 8:00am next Saturday morning, September 21, for check-in and instructions.
