It is with great sadness that Bishop David P. Talley and our Diocese share the passing of Deacon James “Jim” McBride. Deacon Jim entered eternal life early this morning, Thursday, August 3. He was ordained on May 21, 2016. Deacon Jim was an integral part of our Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 4851 Park Ave., for many years. Please pray for the repose of Deacon Jim’s soul and for his family and friends. May God grant him eternal rest.

Obituary:
James Arthur McBride, Jr, age 78, died at his home on August 3rd 2023.

Father, Deacon and Sailor, James (Jim) Arthur McBride Jr. spent his life in service. Jim was born on July 4th, 1945 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to James and Helen McBride. Jim served in the military for 20 years as a Sailor in the United States Navy. During his military service, , Jim married Jo Ann on December 29, 1973. Together they raised five children, Chris, Amy, Bryan, Colleen and Kathy.

After serving in the Navy, Jim attended the University of Memphis where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. He worked for the United States Postal Service until he retired in 2007. After which, Jim served in various capacities at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. His service to the church culminated his ordination as a Deacon on May 21, 2016. After serving as a Father, Sailor, and Public Servant, Jim continued to serve as a Deacon of the Catholic Church until his death.

Jim was survived by his companion, Brenda, his sister, Kathy, and his children, Amy, Bryan, Colleen, and Kathy, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
