Cordova, Tennessee – October 8, 2019 –Each year on October 4th, St. Francis of Assisi School celebrates the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. In remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures, Reverend Carl Hood administered a “Blessing of the Animals” following an all-school Mass. Members of the community were invited to bring their pets for the special blessing. In addition to dogs and cats, three cows were blessed along with members of the Memphis Police Department’s Mounted Patrol Unit and K-9 Unit.
In addition to the Blessing of the Animals, teachers and students celebrated the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi with prayer, school-wide service projects, a prayer walk and a field day competition.
