Bequests
A charitable bequest is one of the simplest ways that you can leave a gift to the Diocese of Memphis, your Parish or Catholic school that will make a lasting impact. With the help of an attorney, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift to be made to the Diocese of Memphis or your Parish or Catholic school as part of your estate plan, or you can make a bequest using a beneficiary designation form. Click here for sample bequest language. Sample Bequest Language – Catholic Diocese of Memphis (cdom.org)
Gift Annuities
A charitable gift annuity is a simple contract. You make a gift to Catholic Gift Annuity, and in return, you receive fixed payments for life. At your death, the remaining balance of the gift annuity is distributed to the Catholic organization(s) you designated. For more information on gift annuities, check out Catholic Gift Annuities | Catholic Extension (catholicgiftannuity.org)
IRA Qualified Charitable Contribution
If you are 70½ years or older you may make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA to your parish, school or other church ministry without paying federal income tax. The funds transferred will count toward your required minimum distribution. Transferred funds do not qualify for a charitable deduction but are not counted as taxable income. Your disbursement must come directly from the administrator of your IRA to the diocese. You cannot receive the funds first.
Donor-Advised Charitable Funds
A donor advised fund, which is like a charitable savings account, gives you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to the Catholic Diocese of Memphis and other qualified Catholic organizations or charities. You can recommend a grant or recurring grants now to make an immediate impact or use your fund as a tool for future charitable gifts.
A gift of appreciated stock is an easy way to make a significant contribution at a reduced cost to you. When you donate stock to charity, you’ll generally take a tax deduction for the full fair market value. For procedures on donating stock to the Diocese of Memphis please read and fill out the form here – Stock Donation Procedures
Other Ways to Give
